Schlitz Audubon Wedding Guide

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center sits on 185 acres along Lake Michigan in Bayside, and it's one of the most beautiful places to get married around Milwaukee. We're proud to be a preferred vendor there. It's a nature center first and an event venue second, and that changes how you plan.

The Great Hall

The reception happens in the Great Hall: a two-story room with tall windows, spruce-log columns, exposed wood beams and a stone fireplace. All that natural light is gorgeous for dinner photos. It also means uplighting doesn't really show until the sun goes down, so we time our lighting to sunset instead of to the timeline.

Outdoor ceremonies

Many couples get married outside at the Pavilion, then move to the covered veranda for cocktail hour. Outdoors, the challenge is never volume. It's wind and open sky. We put windscreens on every mic and place speakers close enough that your vows carry without the ceremony sounding like a PA announcement.

Plan for the bluff

Guests move between spaces here, and they'll linger outside. That's part of why you picked this place, so build real buffer time into your transitions instead of fighting it. Also know that Schlitz has a hard end time. Friday and Saturday events wrap and clear out by 11:00 pm, so we plan your last dance and send-off around that.

The tornado wedding

We'll never forget the wedding where a tornado warning sent everyone to the basement. We grabbed a battery speaker, kept the music going, and the basement turned into a conga line. When the all-clear came, the whole party went right back upstairs and picked up where it left off. Nature center weddings come with nature, and a good team rolls with it.

What we bring

Battery-powered wireless uplighting means no cords running across a room full of guests, and a separate ceremony system means the reception setup stays ready while your ceremony runs.

FAQ

Are there sound or time limits at Schlitz Audubon? There's a firm end time (11:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays), and we confirm the details with the venue coordinator for your date.

Do you provide separate ceremony sound? Yes. Ceremony audio is its own system, not the reception setup moved back and forth.
